Biography

Since 2021 Patrick McGuire has been a full-time Director of Music in the Catholic Church, and previously spent 5 years as a 6-12 Choir Teacher in a Catholic school. Patrick obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) in 2016, and in the spring of 2024 obtained his Master’s Degree in Music from the University of Mary (Bismarck, ND) with a certificate in Sacred Music studies. An avid organist, cantor, conductor, and composer, Patrick has spent much of his early career focusing on sacred music and liturgical studies.

He has prepared and conducted multiple choirs for his home Diocese of Fargo, including the Chrism Mass, Masses for Ordinations of Deacons & Priests, 2022 Eucharistic Congress, and the 2024 Diocesan Synod Liturgies. He assists with the annual Diocese of Fargo Parish Musician’s Workshop as a conductor & clinician. As an independent conductor and clinician, he has given workshops and guest conducted choirs from churches, schools, and local communities throughout the region. He can be heard from time to time on Real Presence Radio discussing sacred music and liturgy. 

 

His compositions range from choral, handbell, organ, and service music, focusing on reverence for liturgical and scriptural texts. He has also written new hymn texts premiered at liturgies in the Diocese of Fargo, and his music has been distributed in Catholic churches and schools across the country.

Born in Laguna Niguel, CA, he grew up as 1 of 8 children in a raucous Irish-Catholic family. Patrick lives in Fargo with his wife Alyson, and daughters Ruth and Hattie.
